Discord launched its first native advertising format this spring, geared specifically to game developers looking to reach the platform’s heavily gaming-interested usership. This current proposition is just the first step in Discord’s larger strategy to build out a bona fide advertising business, which could eventually cater to non-gaming brands across different ad offerings, Peter Sellis, senior VP of product at Discord, told Ad Age.
